Kenya Electronic Visa (ETA)


Citizens of the United States of America may apply for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization).
Single-Entry Visa is valid for travel within 3 months from the date of issue.
A Multiple-Entry Visa is valid for up to 5 years from the date of issue.

To apply for an ETA visa you will need to provide the following:

1. A good quality scan / copy of your US passport (foldout of the bio pages)
2. A good quality scan of a passport-size photo (jpeg format, color, recently taken, on a plain white background, sharp quality)
3. A copy of your airline ticket / itinerary
4. A copy of your hotel confirmation. Name, address, phone number and email address of the property or host should appear on the confirmation or can be provided separately.
*Alternative to a hotel booking, you can provide an invitation letter from a private individual in Kenya accompanied by a good-quality copy of their Kenyan ID and/or passport.
5. Your permanent address in the USA, phone number and email
6. Your place of work/study in the USA - company/school name, address phone number
7. Dates of your previous visits to Kenya
8. List of countries you visited in the last 3 months
9. Your marital status and, if married, name and phone number of your spouse
10. Full names of your father and mother. If living, their phone number(s)

HEALTH IN KENYA

In the event of an injury, appropriate medical treatment is typically available only in or near the major cities of Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu. First responders generally are unable to access areas outside of major cities and to provide urgent medical treatment.


Ambulance services are:

  • Not present throughout the country or are unreliable in most areas except Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, and Eldoret;
  • Not equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment; and
  • Injured or seriously ill travelers may prefer to take a taxi or private vehicle to the nearest major hospital rather than wait for an ambulance.

Do I need to show my COVID-19 certificate in Kenya?
Answer:
Fully vaccinated passengers must show a verifiable full vaccination certificate otherwise, they will be treated as unvaccinated/partially vaccinated under this protocol.

All travelers arriving in Kenya through any point of entry must have a certificate of COVID-19 vaccination.

If I'm not vaccinated can I to travel to Kenya?
Answer:
You can travel to Kenya without COVID-19 vaccination only if:
You have medical conditions precluding vaccination.
Such persons shall be required to provide a letter from a recognized medical practitioner detailing the medical reason precluding vaccination.

You have recovered from an active COVID-19 infection or received convalescent plasma in the preceding 90 days.
Such persons shall be required to provide a letter from a recognized medical practitioner showing that the person may have recovered from an active infection in the preceding 90 days.

Children below the age of five (5) years are exempt from this requirement.

Answer:
All travelers coming to Kenya who are fully vaccinated shall be exempt from the requirement of a PCR test.
All eligible unvaccinated travelers arriving at any port of entry in Kenya, must be in possession of a valid COVID-19 negative PCR test certificate conducted within 72 hours before departure regardless of the place of entry.

You and your primary close contacts should immediately isolate and seek advice from your local health authority.

Answer:
People who cannot be vaccinated need to have a medical certificate which indicates that they have a medical contraindication to COVID-19 vaccines, that is, they cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.

What is a visa to Kenya?

If you want to go to Kenya, you must apply for a (ETV) visa before entering the country.
The electronic e-visa replaces the physical visa. The visa can be called a sticker issued by the Kenyan government and affixed to the passport. However, e-visa cannot be affixed in the passport. You can then print this e-visa or show it to the immigration service via your smartphone or tablet.
With this visa you are allowed to enter the territory of Kenya.
The visa will be checked during passport control in Kenya.

What is the difference between tourist and business visa to Kenya?

Tourists from USA always need a visa to Kenya, this visa is suitable for 1 entry for 90 days.
Business visas are the same. They can be applied for for 1 entry (single-entry) for 90 days.

Do children need to provide their own visa to Kenya?

Yes, also like adults. They must be able to present a visa when entering Kenya. As parents they should also have their own passport (so children are not credited in the passport of a parent), which will contain the visa.

How long will it take before I get my visa?
