To apply for an Electronic Travel Visa (ETV) visa you will be asked to complete an online visa application and provide the following:

  • Scan of the United States passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity.
  • Scan of a passport-style (2"x2") photograph taken within the last 6 months with a plain white background.
  • Flight Itinerary.
  • Scan of a valid passport or national picture ID of the person to be visited in Tanzania (for private visits).
  • Cover letter from the host organization detailing purpose of the trip and a scan of business license or registration certificate of the host company (for business visits).

Electronic Travel Visa (ETV) can only be used at five entry points:

HEALTH IN TANZANIA

In the event of an injury, appropriate medical treatment is typically available only in or near the major cities of Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu. First responders generally are unable to access areas outside of major cities and to provide urgent medical treatment.


Ambulance services are:

  • Not present throughout the country or are unreliable in most areas except Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, and Eldoret;
  • Not equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment; and

Do I need to show my COVID-19 certificate in Tanzania?
Answer:
Fully vaccinated passengers must show a verifiable full vaccination certificate otherwise, they will be treated as unvaccinated/partially vaccinated under this protocol.

All travellers arriving in Tanzania through any point of entry must have a certificate of COVID-19 vaccination.

If I'm not vaccinated can I travel to travel to Tanzania?
Answer:
You can travel to Tanzania without COVID-19 vaccination only if:
You have medical conditions precluding vaccination.
Such persons shall be required to provide a letter from a recognized medical practitioner detailing the medical reason precluding vaccination.

You have recovered from an active COVID-19 infection or received convalescent plasma in the preceding 90 days.
Such persons shall be required to provide a letter from a recognized medical practitioner showing that the person may have recovered from an active infection in the preceding 90 days.

I am flying to Tanzania with my children. Do they need PCR?
Answer:
Children aged 5 years and below will be exempted from both RT PCR and Rapid Antigen Tests requirements.

Do I need to have a negative PCR before my flight to Tanzania?
Answer:
All travelers coming to Tanzania who are fully vaccinated shall be exempt from the requirement of a PCR test. Passengers will be required to present a valid vaccination certificate with a QR code for verification upon arrival.

All eligible unvaccinated travelers arriving at any port of entry in Tanzania, must be in possession of a valid COVID-19 negative PCR test certificate conducted within 72 hours before departure regardless of the route of entry.

Do I need to do PCR-test after my arrival in Tanzania?
Answer:
Passengers arriving from certain countries experiencing high COVID-19 case numbers are obliged to take a rapid antigen test on arrival in Tanzania, at their own expense (USD 10 for Tanzania Mainland). If found positive, they will be tested with RT PCR for confirmation and will be required to self-isolate.

These people should not travel as you may have passed the infection on to them. A primary close contact is anyone who has had unprotected exposure to a confirmed case. You and your primary close contacts should immediately isolate and seek advice from your local health authority.

Answer:
People who cannot be vaccinated need to have a medical certificate which indicates that they have a medical contraindication to COVID-19 vaccines, that is, they cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.

Tanzania still is identifying COVID-19 cases, and, due to an increasing number of cases in several countries, surveillance is being intensified and travel protocols are strictly enforced.

Terrorists have targeted the Cabo Delgado province near the Tanzania and Mozambique border area. Avoid travelling to within 30km of the border with Mozambique, in the Mtwara region, due to the threat of militant attacks, terrorism and kidnappings.

What is a visa to Tanzania?

If you want to go to Tanzania, you must apply for a (ETV) visa before entering the country.
The visa can be called a sticker issued by the Tanzania government and affixed to the passport. With this visa you are allowed to enter the territory of Tanzania.

What is the difference between tourist and business visa to Tanzania?

How long will it take before I get my visa?
